Belum Rainforest Resort #7 - Bamboo rafting & departure

On the third day in Belum -and also the last day there - we had one more activity to go before leaving the place. It is one which I have been looking forward to... that is...

*drum roll*

Bamboo rafting!!!!!!!!!!

Yeap! I was really excited to give it a try, and it seems like fun!

After we strapped on our life jackets, we proceed to step onto one of the rafts. It was a tough job balancing on the raft ._. Your whole body just can't seem to control itself, so I sort of crawled rather than standing up and walk.

A bamboo raft can contain a maximum number of three people. One in front, one in the middle and one at the back. So it's like balancing out the weight and making the raft more steady.

We used a long bamboo stick as our paddles. Super cool :D I know the bamboo raft looks a bit scary since the width is only 9 bamboo sticks combined together.. YES IT WAS SCARY.

Especially when there were only three first-timers (very inexperienced people) are on board, without the guy who was supposed to come on the raft with us. He just left us to do it on our own :/ And the fact that when you look across the horizon, it's a never-ending sight of trees and islands and water and more water. The feeling is basically like being in the middle of the ocean :x

Anyway, we still managed to smile for the camera...

Paddling the raft requires cooperation from EVERYONE. So we had to synchronise on the speed and direction of our paddles in order the move the raft in the desired direction.

It was hard work, seriously. Both my hands were totally exhausted after a short while later, because you need a whole lot of energy to push the stick against the water current.

I didn't know how long we managed to paddle around. After getting tired, we went and 'park' our raft in its original place. The guy said it was a nice parking lol.

Haha. Whooo very dangerous :p

We checked out at noon, and sadly left the resort.

Belum Rainforest Resort is indeed a very nice destination to go to when you feel like detaching yourself from the busy city life temporarily. At least, a different place to consider other than Genting Highlands? :p
