Meeting up with April

This was sometime in December last year.

I met up with my friend April from BRATs when I went to Penang after the trip to Singapore. I haven't seen her since March (last year), which was when I met her during The Star BRATs workshop. "Petite, bubbly and talkative" pretty much describes her :)

It was one day before Christmas, so practically every road was experiencing bad traffic in the small island. People doing last-minute Christmas shopping; going out for Christmas dinners/parties; preparing for the countdown, all add to the number of cars on the road.

It was almost 5 when April's mom managed to locate my house. The car then inched slowly to Zhou Tian Yang aquarium in town.

It's a big aquarium with multiple storeys.

Initially I thought it is similar to Aquaria KLCC, where all kinds of sea creatures swim above your head in a humongous glass tank. PAI SEH :p

They sell a wide variety of fish species, so it's a haven for fish lovers.

This Arowana isn't very big in size actually...

... but the price can go up as high as RM8,888. No kidding!

Photobucket

I'd rather invest in a RM8,888 camera kit/lens.

Aww I love its yellow colour; so vibrant!

Baby prawns.

I forgot what it's called.. lion fish? Very unique body structure, with its clear blue eyes.

Further in is where the cats and dogs live. Yep, ZTY Aquarium also sells other types of animals, including this cheeky parrot!

Photobucket

Man, his displays of idiosyncratic movements will definitely make you laugh - hard!

After browsing through the ground floor, we went up to the first floor which was desserted. Except for more fish tanks/bowls, decorations for the tanks, playthings for your darling fishes etc.

Next, we went across the street to this 'Tau Fu Fah' shop. According to the old pictures hung on the walls, this shop has already been in existence for at least 30 years already.

They sell 'Bird's Nest Tau Fu Fah' too! Wow.. I HAVE to try that next time.

We both ordered 'Tau Fu Fah' with cane sugar. The cane sugar has a hint of ginger, which definitely spiced up the sweetness. Not bad, but it wasn't quite to my taste.

So far, this is the only 'Tau Fu Fah' that I can find outside which has a high enough standard to be compared to my mom's. Haha seriously, you'd think the ones selling outside suck after you've tried my mom's homemade 'Tau Fu Fah' :)

I had a great time with April, and thanks to her mom for giving me a ride AND treating me to delicious 'Tau Fu Fah'!

Never thought I would gaze admiringly at those colourful and pretty fishes again - a favourite childhood pastime that I used to do :)
